From the Roman road

to Inn Valley shipping & modern transport links

Kiefersfelden has a long and eventful past as a transport hub. Even in Roman times, an important trade route ran through the Inn Valley. Later, shipping, rail transport and finally the motorway all played an important role in the industrial history of the area, shaping not only the transport and traffic system, but also the townscape.

Kiefersfelden was connected to the newly built railway line in 1858. This postcard shows the railway station at the turn of the century.
