Folk Theater

400 years of theatre tradition, rooted in working-class culture

Theatre has been performed in Kiefersfelden for over 400 years - a tradition that is closely linked to industrial culture, as many workers were enthusiastic about acting in their free time. Here they not only found entertainment, but also an expression of their cultural identity.

The historical theatre costumes from the time of the Passion Play are a real highlight of the exhibition. In the 19th century, the genre of knights' spectacles became established, a legacy that has survived to the present day. These plays are still performed today on the baroque stage in Kiefersfelden, which is unique with its original folding and revolving sets.
